It’s possible that the factories in Nottingham had been converted to making things for the war effort. Maybe the lace making factories were converted to uniforms and stuff like that.
The Nazis also mistakenly thought that by bombing British towns they could demoralise the British people. Little did they realise that they were releasing the “bulldog spirit” and its Scottish equivalent when they bombed Clydebank and it’s shipyards.
