Best reply by Susan:

Personally, I prefer the Guardian tables.

Royal Holloway is much higher up than Nottingham. It has a 92% satisfaction rate with teaching compared to Nottingham’s 84%, though that’s not bad. Career prospects are also better from there, and you don’t need such high entry grades.

It’s right next to St Andrews on the list – I went there and did psychology for one year of my degree, and it had a fantastic reputation. So, if it’s that close to St Andrews, then I’d say it must be brilliant

Best reply by Daryl:

I would consider against moving to Hucknall. North Nottinghamshire places tend to be the roughest in the county.

There are places just outside Hucknall that are okay, Papplewick and Linby spring to mind.

Inevitably it’s your own choice and it’s where you start up home, Hucknall is an area with nice crime, but hopefully you can avoid this.

Hi,

Me and my partner plan to go and live in New Zealand for 2 years and rent our house out. Can anyone recommend a good letting agency in Nottingham/Derby area? Please don’t reply if you work for a letting agency!

What kind of charges do the make?
Do they do a deal where they can guarantee you tenants so we don’t end up having to leave the house empty with no rent coming in?

Thanks

Best reply by beverley1156:

Here in Sleaford(Lincs) there is a company called Northwood(used to be Bairstow Eves) who actually rent your home from you direct and then find tenants themselves. They Guarantee the rent(lower than market value)even if you have no tenant in.Sounds like a good deal to me if the rent they offer is satisfactory to yourselves. We called them in for our home and thought it was an excellent scheme. They may have an office in your area and do the same thing there.
